New ITIL® is here. Now what?

New ITIL (ITIL version 5) is coming fast. See exactly what it means for your current ITIL 4 or v3 certificates, how to move into New ITIL, and when each module launches in 2026.

New ITIL is here. Your skills either move with it – or fall behind.

The way organisations run digital products and services is changing. New ITIL (ITIL Version 5) is built for AI-driven, always-on work, keeping the best of ITIL 4 and earlier while tightening the link between product, service and experience.

MindMagine has guided ITIL professionals in Malaysia since 2001 and is an accredited PeopleCert ATO. You already speak ITIL. We help you speak new ITIL with confidence.

What’s new in ITIL (version 5)

From the official guidance, ITIL (version 5) brings several big shifts:

  • It works across the whole organisation, from strategy meetings to day-to-day operations.
  • It treats digital products and services as one combined life cycle instead of two separate worlds.
  • It bakes in AI-aware practices and experience outcomes.
  • It still uses the same guiding principles and value system you know from ITIL 4, so nothing is wasted.

So you move forward, not backwards.

Choose Your Pathway

Good news: your ITIL 4 certification stays valid. It is accepted as an entry point into new ITIL (version 5) advanced modules.

Your next steps:

  • Keep your ITIL 4 Foundation or higher. It remains valid and counts as your prerequisite.
  • Choose whether you want:
    • Practice strength – complete ITIL Transformation and one Practice bundle to earn ITIL (version 5) Practice Manager.
    • Delivery strength – Product, Service, Experience and Transformation for ITIL (version 5) Managing Professional.
    • Leadership strength – Strategy and Transformation for ITIL (version 5) Strategic Leader.

MindMagine recommendation: join the Managing Professional Transition once it launches if you already hold ITIL 4 Managing Professional or Master and want a single compressed upgrade.

“You built your career on v3. You don’t want that story erased.”

Route summary:

  • Step into ITIL (version 5) Foundation to update concepts and language.
  • From there, pick either:
    • Full ITIL (version 5) route through Practice Manager / Managing Professional.
    • Upcoming Managing Professional Transition (for v3 Expert/Master) once available.

You keep the discipline of v3 and match it with the product-and-experience focus of ITIL (version 5).

“You’re tired of guessing how product and service teams should work together.”

Route summary:

  • Start with ITIL (version 5) Foundation, the shared entry point for everyone.
  • Decide which side of the house you live in:
    • Run teams? Aim for Practice Manager or Managing Professional.
    • Shape direction? Move towards Strategic Leader.

MindMagine wraps this into blended learning: class time, exam prep and coaching on how to apply ITIL (version 5) back at work.
